'There is nothing you can see that is not a flower; there is nothing you can think that is not the moon.' - Matsuo Basho

Hey Y'all!

A little cosmic. A little sentimental. Always curious.

I’m Tate Tullier, a Deaf artist and photographer from Louisiana, now based in Austin, Texas.

For more than 25 years, I’ve been photographing people—their milestones, relationships, personalities, and the little in-between moments that become more meaningful with time. My creative life also includes collage, painting, writing, and an ever-growing stack of books.

I’m drawn to things that make me feel something. An unexpected color combination. A familiar face seen differently. A sentence I have to read twice. Something funny sitting right beside something tender.

This space brings those interests together.

Many ways of making something meaningful

Photography has been a constant in my life, from client portraits to my ongoing project, Tub Time With Tate. I love the intimacy of making a photograph and the trust that allows someone to show up as themselves.

With collage and mixed media, I follow a different kind of curiosity: collecting, rearranging, and discovering what happens when things meet on a page. Astrology often finds its way into my work, too—as a language for exploring patterns, identity, and change.

I like a little mess. I like evidence of a human hand. I want room for surprise.

Cosmic Sobbing lives here, too

I launched Cosmic Sobbing in 2020 as a home for apparel inspired by astrology, emotion, and the experience of being human.

The name holds a lot of what I love: the enormous universe and our very personal feelings within it. Tears, humor, compassion, questions. Sometimes all at once.

As my creative world grows, Cosmic Sobbing remains part of it. Here, you’ll find it alongside my artwork and other things I’m excited to share.

And then there are the books

Reading is one of my great loves. Through Book Time With Tate, I share what I’m reading and the books that stay with me.

That love extends to preloved books: copies with a little history, ready for another reader. I enjoy the discovery as much as the possibility of passing a good book along.

Welcome to my corner of the world

This is a place for what I make, what I find, and what keeps me curious.

Thank you for being here—for looking, reading, wearing, collecting, or finding something that speaks to you.

XOXO,
Tate
